Weekly Wrap-Up at Slab Culture: Custom Concrete, Outdoor Kitchens & Fireplace Features
It’s been another hands-on week at Slab Culture, packed with site installs, custom mould work, and exciting new finishes. Here’s what we’ve been working on across the region:
A Feature Bench for a Wodonga Renovation
We kicked off the week at a home renovation in Wodonga, where we removed the plaster and installed laser-cut steel brackets to support a striking 4250mm long, 100mm thick GFRC polished concrete benchtop. The brackets—made by Larsens Engineering—feature a curved end and are designed to hold a Rinnai gas log fireplace, which will be installed by National Heating and Cooling Wodonga. It’s going to be the centrepiece of the living space once complete.
Custom GFRC concrete Mould Work for Unique Projects around, Albury - Wodonga area.
Back in the workshop, we created custom moulds for several exciting jobs this week:
A wood heater floor plate for Wortmann Quality Homes.
A polished concrete countertop for JWP Architects office renovation.
An outdoor kitchen package for a client in Wagga Wagga.
A Outdoor kitchen project in Central Albury.
A custom concrete coffee table for the Spitfire Hockey Club’s charity night.
Each job is measure and made in our factory ready for install later next week.
Outdoor Kitchen Install in Baranduda
Later in the week, we completed an outdoor kitchen install in Baranduda, featuring:
Sleek Polytec doors
60mm thick GFRC polished concrete tops
Blum soft-close drawers with cutlery inserts
Fully waterproof Cabinex cabinetry, supplied by Outdoors Domain in Melbourne
This outdoor setup is built tough, packed with functionality, and looks incredible.
New Polished Concrete Sealer in Action
We’ve also been applying a new sealer we've been developing through extensive R&D. This new finish offers improved durability, enhanced appearance, and a premium feel that elevates our concrete even further. We’re excited to keep testing it out on new projects.
