Meet the Maker
My journey began in carpentry at the age of 17, giving me a solid foundation in structure and design. Seven years ago, I launched Slab Culture out of a small shed here in Wodonga with a singular focus: mastering GFRC (Glass Fibre Reinforced Concrete).
In the early days, we crafted polished concrete benchtops for local builders and architects, tackling everything from indoor kitchens to fireplace surrounds. As an AHHA member we know wood heating compliance inside out, and we've built our reputation on combining premium architectural fireplaces with custom GFRC concrete hearths and feature walls.
Whether we're installing a Stûv, Cheminées Philippe, Lacunza, Kalora or Billy Smoker — and whether the hearth is floating, on legs, or a full feature wall — we're proud to bring premium wood heating to homes across Victoria, NSW and beyond.

GFRC is compliant for under wood heaters. It is non-combustible, like steel. You can also purchase custom heat shields to reduce benchtop cracking. We don't just sell fireplaces and benchtops and leave you to work out the rest - we take into consideration every aspect of a fireplace install. Cladding materials are available to purchase to make your walls compliant too, such as Hebel and Skamotec.
We do on-site meetings to not only help you get the right look and feel but to achieve compliance and functionalitiy as well. We do your design and CAD work. We can achieve a floating or minimal support fire hearth or steel wall bracket system to achieve a floating bench with the biggest range of fireplaces outside the capital cities.
